What
is Zone Management & What does it allow me to do? |
|
Zone
Management allows you to control the set-up of your
domain name records. Your domain name records are responsible
for routing your Internet services eg. Mail, WWW. Previously
this type of control was only available to system administrators
but now RegisterDIRECT gives you this powerful facility!
Zone Management is ideal for system integrators needing
immediate changes to zone records.
. |
|
I've
set-up some Zone Records. When do they become active? |
|
If
your domain name is confirmed as registered and active
any zone record additions will be immediately visible
in most circumstances. However it could take;
-Up to 24 hours to be visible if you have just registered
or transferred your domain name.
-Up to 1 hour if you have modified existing 'A' or 'MX'
records.
-Up to 1 hour on your ISP's name server if you have caused
a negative cache from looking up the address before you
added it.
By monitoring the status column in 'Zone Management' you
can check the visibility of any records in your zone on
multiple name servers around the world.
. |
|
I've
modified a Zone Record and all status lights are green
on the record I modified, |
|
but
I still can't
see it. Why? |
|
The
status column gives you a global view of your record's
visibility. However it does not mean that the records
are visible on every server in the world. If you are still
within the 1 hour window of a change then any name servers
which have previously cached the old record will not show
the changes until the old records expire from that local
name server. This expiry can take up to 1 hour.

How
do I delegated my DNS servers back to RegisterDirect from
another DNS provider? |
|
This
is not possible from the client interface. Please contact
us with your RegisterDirect ID and Password and we will
restore your domain name and services on the DNS. You
can then activate any services you require once the DNS
has been delegated.

I
accidentally removed the MX Record for the Mail Forwarding
service. How do I add it |
|
again? |
|
1.
Select 'MX' from the record type.
2. Type in your domain name in the 'Hostname' box
3. Set the 'MX' priority to '10'
4. Enter the MX host as 'mx.mail.isx.net.nz'
5. Click 'Add'
NOTE: When you removed the MX record your mail forwarders
were removed automatically so you will need to set up
your mail forwarders again.

I
accidentally removed the 'A' records for the URL Redirection

them
again? |
|
If
you re-enter the URL into the URL Redirection form the
required zone records will be automatically re-created. |
